The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive came into being on 1st January 2009. From this date every retail unit with a floor area greater than 50 sq.m. is required to have an EPC on construction, sale or rental of any unit, and it became the legal duty of every Landlord to provide these.

The main aim of the Directive is to show, in an easily understood way, the current energy performance of a building and then provide recommendations which can be taken to improve energy efficiency. This is part of the Government’s overall strategy to reduce carbon emissions, which go beyond the pledges given in the Kyoto Treaty.

Only qualified energy assessors can perform these assessments and issue the EPC and Report. We are one of the few project management companies with significant retail park experience seeking to provide this service.
